Roy Blakey pic of #holidayonice #star Stephanie Andros from Roy’s archive. #uncleroy #royblakey #royblakeyphotography is known for his iconic 1973 book HE and his book Roy Blakey’s 70s Male Nudes, featuring his #1970s #malenude #photography. Roy is #oldschool yet he did a website many years ago but when he saw so many people putting his pictures on their sites he pulled his site. Roy concentrates his time and attention on icestagearchive.com. I would like to pay more attention to his photography archive yet I have a lot of film sitting in my darkroom which needs processing. A few years back I started a film about Roy’s personal story and male nude photography since he was rock in’ #nyc as a #photographer for the dance world helping many actors with his classic #headshots. I have put the doc film on him on hold right now. Frustrating cause I want to lift up his past work but right now my focus is on Line 3 resistance. Since this page is my journal I will share that being a historian is a multifaceted task as I need to have a plan for Roy’s archive and my own frankly. Roy Blakey is not only my #uncle he is my dear friend with a positive influence on my life path. His photography career showed my mom that I could make a living with my camera. Roy’s IceStagearchive.com collection along with his 1960s rolls of 8mm film helped turn me into a filmmaker with my first feature documentary The Fabulous Ice Age. When he decided to leave #nyc and move to Minnesota he and I got a building to share for our studio and he lives there and I keep my archive there, still have my darkroom and workspace. I am grateful to have a partner like Roy in my life. At 90 his eyes are going and the last few nights I have been over helping him with his #directtv remote. He is the only one in the family who laughs at all my jokes. Fifteen below zero and a huge crowd came for a social gathering around a “just transition” away from fossil fuels. When the town of Palisade wouldn’t give a permit for the event we gathered elsewhere but still walked to the #mississippiriver to pray for the water. The town population is 100 and more than fifty attended the sunny event. Today there was a caravan of almost 50 cars and ma

Today there was a caravan of almost 50 cars and many around #line3 territory to have people see what is happening and to show the locals the #StopLine3 support in northern #minnesota. It doesn’t make a good picture but everyone was in their cars and on a collective #zoom call and so we were together for the three hour drive by. This was a multi group event with @honortheearth @sierraclub @mn350.climatemovement and the law enforcement was everywhere!
