Behind-the-scenes in the thundering world of Japanese taiko drumming, women redefine power in a historic performance of celebration, defiance, and revolution.
At an obon festival in California, Tiffany Tamaribuchi was told at a young age that “girls don’t drum”. In spite of this, her love for Japanese drums fueled her to blaze a path as an international solo taiko artist. Her dream to bring together the world’s best female taiko drummers together for the first time takes root in an unlikely place. Jennifer Weir, a MN Korean adoptee, helps realize Tiffany’s dream, and together they bring 18 taiko all stars from Japan and North America together for the first time, in the dead of a Minnesota winter, to create an epic performance that changes all of their lives forever.
